Griffin Electric Proudly Supports Women in Construction

Holliston, MA (March 2026). A leading electrical contractor throughout New England and the Southeast for nearly five decades, Wayne J. Griffin Electric, Inc. (Griffin Electric) is grateful to “Work with the Best” and recognizes the important contributions that its employees make. Women at Griffin Electric are making their mark and helping the company deliver projects and exceed client expectations. As the industry celebrates Women in Construction this month, the company continues to be proud to champion its team members, but is also committed to helping facilitate opportunities for all women in the trades.

Griffin Electric has taken an active role in promoting construction to different audiences in an effort to increase access to the skilled trades, especially for those who may not be as aware of the great opportunities that a career in this field can offer. The company participates in school visits and career fairs throughout the year, targeting a mix of vocational and traditional schools. It also works closely with a range of organizations and looks to spread awareness about one of the most powerful gateways to the skilled trades: apprenticeship.

For over thirty years, the company’s debt-free Apprenticeship Training Program has helped prepare many women and men to become licensed electricians and telecom technicians. Offered on-site at its Holliston, MA headquarters and at each of its Southeast office locations in Alabama, Georgia, and North Carolina, the program is an alternative to traditional schooling where apprentices undergo a mix of classroom instruction, hands-on training, and on-the-job learning over the course of four years. Apprentices earn excellent compensation and full benefits, and are eligible for wage increases every six months based on grades and work performance.

Griffin Electric encourages its employees to take their careers in their own hands and pursue a range of goals. Several women who graduated from the program and recently attained their licensure are already charting their own course. Some have finished teaching requirements and are serving as instructors in the very program they completed. Another team member has undergone additional trainings to help her take on greater responsibilities on the jobsite. Others have even taken their careers in a different direction and transitioned to office positions. The company is committed to doing what it can to offer support to employees no matter what future they envision for themselves.

Griffin Electric offers job-related and personal improvement resources throughout the year to help employees be their best. It also grants team members with $2,000 annual tuition reimbursement to pursue additional educational programs that support career objectives. Graduates of its apprenticeship program even have an opportunity to attain their electrical or telecom licensure and earn an associate degree or higher thanks to the company’s partnership with local colleges. Completing the apprenticeship program gives graduates nearly half the credits needed toward the degree, and the company pays up to 70% or more of tuition.

Griffin Electric is proud to recognize Women in Construction and remains committed to supporting women throughout the company who continue to pave their own way and help make the company successful. It is also committed to promoting the skilled trades as an excellent career pathway for future success. The company is grateful to have a talented team of individuals who come from varied backgrounds, and each person brings important perspectives to make the company stronger.
